It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of our friend and senior partner, George M. Chamlin.
George Chamlin, graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1955. He was designated as a Certified Trial Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court for his specialty in the field of personal injury law. Mr. Chamlin and this firm successfully handled the case of Kelly vs. Gwinnel, which was the first case in the United States to assess liability on a private property host for the acts of an inebriated guest.

Ronald B. Rosen, a partner with the law firm of Chamlin, Rosen, Uliano and Witherington for over 30 years, graduated from Rutgers University in 1964 and earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers University School of Law in 1967.
Mr. Rosen served a legal clerkship with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office before joining the the law firm. After doing personal injury jury trials for ten years, Mr. Rosen now limits his practice to matrimonial law. He is a skilled advocate regarding the issues of alimony, child support, custody, visitation, and the distribution of marital assests.
Mr. Rosen has earned specific designation by the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey as a Matrimonial Law Attorney and he has been credentialed by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers as a Certified Matrimonial Arbitrator and a Certified Matrimonial Mediator. He was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States in 1979.
Serving as President of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, New Jersey Chapter for two consecutive terms, Mr. Rosen was instrumental in organizing seminars and lectures for the Legal Community, educating in-coming Family Law Clerks and maintaining the professional standards of the Family Practice. Mr. Rosen has served on the Executive Committee of the New Jersey State Bar-Family Law Section.
Mr. Rosen has been an invited speaker for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the American Trial Lawyers' Association, and the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Among other topics, he has lectured on the following :
1) "discovery of hidden assets"
2) "marital tort liability"
3) "hearsay evidence in divorce"
4) three separate seminars entitled " hot tips in matrimonia law" and
5) "same sex marriages and their affect on alimony termination".
Mr. Rosen heads the matrimonial department of Chamlin, Rosen, Uliano and Witherington. He has chaired the Monmouth County Family Law Committee several times. In addition, he has been selected to serve on the Monmouth County Early Settlement Panel and Blue Ribbon Settlement Panel. As a service to the community, Mr. Rosen lectures for the Monmouth Adult Education Commission for those individuals contemplating divorce.
Ron Rosen is married and has two children, a son who graduated from the University of Michigan, and a daughter who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Law School.

Charles J. Uliano graduated from Lasalle University in 1970, and Seton Hall Law School in 1974, and has been a partner with the firm since 1982.
He has been designated by the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey as a Certified Civil and Criminal Trial Attorney.
Mr. Uliano is a former Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor and has tried numerous civil and criminal cases in both State and Federal Courts. He has served as a Municipal Prosecutor for the City of Asbury Park, City Attorney for the city of Long Branch and Township Attorney for the Township of Neptune. Mr. Uliano has represented numerous governmental entities in defense of civil rights claims under section 1983. He has been an instructor at the Monmouth and Ocean County Police Academies in the area of police civil liability.
Mr. Uliano is accredited for one of the largest plaintiff's awards in Monmouth County. In 1992, Mr. Uliano litigated the matter of Lavelle vs. Allied Signal Corporation and procured a settlement in the amount of 2.5 million dollars for the plaintiff.
Charles Uliano has recently completed his year as President of the Monmouth County Bar Association. Mr. Uliano has been the past chairman of the Criminal Practice and Judicial Selection Committee of the Monmouth Bar Association, and is a current member of the Judicial Evaluation Committee of the Monmouth Bar Association.
Mr. Uliano is active in Monmouth County politics. He has represented the Democratic party on various Election Day title 19 actions since 1988. He has served as a campaign manager and finance advisor to the Democratic party.
Mr. Uliano has recently been honored to be included in Strathmore's Who's Who, a publication for those who have demonstrated leadership and achievement in their occupation or profession.
Mr. Uliano is married, has two children and resides in West Long Branch, New Jersey.

Kenneth Chamlin, a partner with the firm since 1992, graduated college in 1979 with a Business degree from Rutgers University. He obtained his law degree from the Delaware Law School of Widener University and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1982. In 1989, he was admitted to the New York Bar.
Prior to his association with Chamlin, Rosen, Uliano & Witherington, he served a judicial clerkship for The Honorable Julia Ashbey.
Presently, Ken supervises and heads the firm's worker's compensation and real estate sections. He has developed a specialty in municipal government law, as well as issues related to employment law. He is presently the Chairman of the Worker's Compensation section of the Monmouth Bar Association. During his career, he was appointed City Attorney for the City of Long Branch, New Jersey, and Borough Prosecutor for the neighboring town of Deal, NJ.
Ken also handles personal injury and criminal matters as well.

Laura S. Witherington graduated from Moravian College in 1986 and Rutgers Law School in 1989. She is licensed to practice law in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Witherington served a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Paul F. Chaiet, J.S.C.
Ms. Witherington has been with the firm for fifteen years. She is the first woman to become a named partner of the firm. Ms. Witherington's practice is focused on family law; including divorce, custody, support and domestic violence issues.
Ms. Witherington serves as a panelist for the Monmouth County Early Settlement Program. She is a member of the Monmouth Bar Association's Family Law Committee. She lectures on divorce related topics for the Monmouth County Adult Education Commission (MAECOM) and The Support Forum.

David P. Levine, an associate with the firm, graduated from Rutgers Law School in 1991. Mr. Levine's practice is focused on personal injury.
Prior to joining the firm, he served as a New Jersey Deputy Attorney General. He defended the State and various agencies against personal injury claims. He also served as counsel to the Teachers' Pension and Annuity Fund Board and litigated matters for the various state pension boards before the Office of Administrative Law and several appellate panels.
Mr. Levine is a member of the Monmouth County Bar Association and has recently been appointed to the Monmouth County Civil Practice Committee. Mr. Levine also serves as a civil arbitrator in both Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
Mr. Levine's prior experience also includes several years of trying the defense of personal injury matters for various insurance companies. Mr. Levine is married, has three daughters and resides in Howell Township, NJ.

Karen M. Schermond graduated from West Virginia University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate degree from Villanova University School of Law in 1999.
Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Schermond served as judicial law clerk to the Honorable Joseph P. Testa, Presiding Judge of the Family Division, Cumberland County, New Jersey. With the firm, Ms. Schermond is specializing in matrimonial law and related issues of custody, alimony, support, domestic violence and distribution of marital assets.
She is a member of the American Trial Lawyer's Association, the Monmouth County Bar Association and Family Law Committee. Ms. Schermond co-chairs the ATLA Support Staff Program and teaches courses on divorce, custody and child support. She has written articles published by ATLA on various issues related to family law, including motion practice, discovery and child support.

Marcie L. Mackolin graduated from Douglass College, Rutgers University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications. She went on to receive her Juris Doctorate degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1998.
Prior to joining the firm, she served an internship at the Middlesex County Office of the Public Defender and was a law clerk to retired District of New Jersey judge, Judge Herbert Stern, in his private practice.

An associate with the law film Chamlin, Rosen, Uliano and Witherington, Mr. Bazzurro's practice is focused mainly on personal injury, employment and insurance litigation as well as the handling of real estate transactions.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Bazzurro was employed for several years by another local law firm which specialized in personal injury defense. This prior experience included the defending of claims for public entities and on behalf of insurance companies with an emphasis on general negligence cases, motor vehicle cases, landowner liability claims, construction claims, employment discrimination claims, civil rights violation claims and CERCLA claims.
Mr Bazzurro's experience also includes a one year judicial clerkship in the Superior Court of New Jersey for The Honorable Philip Freedman, J.S.C. and the now District Court Judge Katherine Sweeney-Hayden, U.S.D.C.J. He also completed an internship with the Seton Hall Center for Social Justice in Newark, New Jersey.
Mr Bazzurro is licensed to practice law in both the State and Federal Courts in New Jersey and New York. He received his Juris Doctorate degree cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law after receiving his Bachelor's Degree from Wagner College. He resides in Freehold, New Jersey with his wife and two daughters.

As an associate in the law firm of Chamlin, Rosen, Uliano & Witherington, Andrew Walsh focuses on several areas of law, including Personal Injury, Criminal Law, Municipal Court, Workers' Compensation and Real Estate.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Walsh served a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Eugene A. Iadanza, JSC and served an internship for The Honorable Thomas F. Shebell, Jr., J.A.D.
Mr. Walsh graduated from Dickinson College in 1992 prior to receiving his Juris Doctor degree from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1996.
Mr. Walsh is licensed to practice law in the State of New Jersey, and he is a member of the Monmouth County and New Jersey State Bar Associations. He resides in Little Silver, New Jersey with his wife and daughter.

Matthew A. SmuroMatthew A. Smuro graduated from Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Spanish. He went on to receive his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina in 2002 and is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York.
Mr. Smuro served as a Family Law Judicial law clerk to The Honorable Eugene A. Iadanza, Presiding Judge of the Family Division, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Mr. Smuro is a life-long resident of Monmouth County and his areas of concentration will be in Matrimonial Law, Criminal and Municipal Court Law.
He is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Monmouth Bar Association.

Michelle M. RosenMichelle M. Rosen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and the Cardozo Law School in Manhattan, New York and is licensed to practice law in New Jersey and New York. She will be practicing Matrimonial Law as an associate in the firm.
Mrs. Rosen served as a Family Law Judicial law clerk to The Hon. Michael Diamond, Presiding Family Law Judge, Passaic County, New Jersey. Mrs. Rosen grew up in Long Island, New York and now resides in New Jersey and her areas of concentration will be in Matrimonial Law.

Lois D. Sutton received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Brooklyn College, NY and her Juris Doctorate degree at Rutgers School of Law in Newark, NJ. She is a member of the Monmouth County Bar Association.
Ms. Sutton has practiced law in New Jersey for over twenty-five years. She was in-house counsel with the commercial loan department of First National State Bank-Edison (now Wachovia Bank), and most recently was in private practice in Tinton Falls. As an associate in the law firm, she will specialize in commercial and residential real estate, all phases of Corporate Law and estate planning (wills and trusts). As a former Director of Endowments for the Jewish Federation of Greater Monmouth County, Ms. Sutton is also experienced in the field of charitable planned giving.
Ms. Sutton has written on legal topics for several local publications and gives seminars on estate planning. She was recently part of a panel presented by Ocean Township Hadassah on organ donation, speaking on the topic of Living Wills and Health Care Proxies. Ms. Sutton is also entering her third year as a coach for a local high school team participating in the New Jersey State Bar Association Mock Trial Competitition.

Shannon E. WestShannon E. West graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 2002 with a Bachelor of Arts in both Government and English. She went on to receive her Juris Doctor degree from the William & Mary School of Law in 2005, where she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Environmental Law & Policy Review. Her Note, “Sweeping the Mess Under Hanford’s Rug: How the State of Washington and its Citizens Groups Plan to Clean it Up,” was also chosen to be published in the Spring 2005 Issue of the Environmental Law & Policy Review.
Ms. West served as a Family Law Judicial law clerk to The Honorable Honora O’Brien Kilgallen, J.S.C., Monmouth County, New Jersey, before commencing her employment. Ms. West’s areas of concentration will be in Matrimonial Law.
Ms. West is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Monmouth Bar Association. She enjoys college basketball and is a fan of the Eagles.

Joseph E. Kelley, III, Esq. is Of Counsel with our law firm. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1965 and received a Juris Doctor cum laude from The George Washington University in 1968. He was admitted to the New Jersey Bar that same year. Mr. Kelley served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, JAGC from 1969 through 1973.
He was a partner in our law firm from 1974 through 1980. He then went on to be a partner in the law firm of Ingram & Kelley from 1980 through 2001 and became a sole practitioner in 2001.
Mr. Kelley handles both Petitioner and Respondent workers compensation matters. He represents the Monmouth County Joint Insurance Fund and the County of Monmouth in defense of workers compensation matters.
Mr. Kelley is married and has two grown children.
