The Rumson Municipal Court is tasked with adjudicating less-serious criminal charges such as possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, as well as motor vehicle violations such as first, second, or third offenses for driving while intoxicated, which are issued within the court’s jurisdiction of Rumson, New Jersey. Specifically, the court tries criminal cases involving disorderly persons offenses and petty disorderly persons offenses, which are relatively less severe than indictable felonies in New Jersey, which are heard in the Superior Court in the county in which the alleged offense occurred.
